CEGAA is committed to generate evidence to inform resource mobilisation and allocation for health, HIV/AIDS and TB, to ensure availability and accessibility of key health interventions such as HIV prevention, AIDS and TB treatment, and other care and support programmes for those who need them.
As we commemorate World AIDS Day 2015, we assure the world that financial and other resources that have been invested in HIV/AIDS in the SADC region and around the world have contributed in controlling the epidemic, resulting in reduced mortality and other positive health outcomes. Countries have developed sound HIV/AIDS policies and strategic plans. However these are meaningless if there are no sufficient budgets to operationalise them. We commend the governments, donors, non-state actors and other stakeholders for allocating resources to fight the epidemic, and for working together in research, planning and service delivery to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS. We truly believe that if we all work together we shall achieve more.
Let us remember all those who lost their lives due to HIV/AIDS, and use their memories as an engine to keep us all going in harmony. The fight is not over yet.
