About Cegaa

The Centre for Economic Governance and Accountability in Africa (CEGAA) was founded in 2006 as a regional civil society organisation focused on attaining effective, rights-based and developmental health financing in Africa to enable a comprehensive response to HIV/AIDS. We provide training, capacity-building, research and advocacy services to and through community structures, government stakeholders and legislatures in support of an empowered civil society and skilled public servants.

CEGAA is committed to assisting African states and organisations needing training and support for budget monitoring and expenditure tracking of health funding in general, and HIV/AIDS and TB funding in particular.

CEGAA has established an impressive track record in the field of economic governance and HIV/AIDS in Africa, and has become a sought-after service provider and partner. Our key strengths and success factors include our in-depth understanding of the networks and role-players in the field, our specialist niche and skills in HIV/AIDS costing, estimating, budget monitoring and expenditure tracking, and our team's authoritative insights into the regional context of this field.

Expertise accumulated by the leading CEGAA members was developed and nurtured mainly through the work they had previously done for the IDASA AIDS Budget Unit, and this proficiency has played a pivotal role in initiating and expanding our HIV/AIDS budget work throughout Africa.Through CEGAA's Advisory Board, experts in various fields relating to health, HIV/AIDS and socio-economic development provide technical guidance, support and mentoring to optimise our services to partners and clients.

Our founding Trustees also bring valuable knowledge, skills and experience to the management and direction of the organisation.
